Visit a Castle

Savour Scots Baronial Architecture

Step in to the Royal heritage of Blair Castle where the Duke of Atholl has his own private army, The Atholl Highlanders. The castle has been home to the Atholl family for seven centuries. In 1844 Queen Victoria and her consort, Prince Albert visited and stayed at Blair Castle. It was after this she gave permission to establish the Atholl Highlanders. The Old Manse was originally situated on the lawn at Blair Castle until the early 1700’s when the Duke decided it was spoiling his view.

The Old Manse was relocated to its current position by the West Drive to the Castle where it was completed in 1828. The Georgian Wing was added to the building in 1846. Enjoy a stroll across the West Drive to the castle and RHS Hercules garden directly from the hotel. Guests at The Old Manse of Blair can enjoy a 15% discount on entry to Blair Castle. Vouchers available at our reception on request.
